Square Enix has just announced that it will be launching its rebranded free-to-play card game Dragon Quest Rivals on 13 August 2020. Dragon Quest Rivals Ace will see the addition of a long-awaited single-player mode in the form of Solo Battle Adventure. Alongside this announcement, we are treated to a brand new trailer which you can watch below:
Along with the rebranding exercise, the game will feature the “Heroes of Triumphal Return” card pack, the first volume in the “Shin” series of card packs. As previously mentioned, the game is available at the moment in Japan on the Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Square Enix has yet to announce Dragon Quest Rivals Ace for the western market, but hopefully with this somewhat new direction it is taking, we might eventually see it down the line. That said, the market is already crowded with such titles, so we may have to wait for the rebranded game to take off in Japan first. Why the game had to rebranded in the first is anybody’s guess, given the fact that it seemed to be doing fairly well. Apart from from the new additions, we are going to have to see how the final product fares when it comes out in a few days. Be sure to give it a spin if you are into these sort of games.
