Dragon Quest of the Stars, a touch-based Dragon Quest RPG for mobile devices, will shut down its global servers in June later this year.
This unfortunate news came from the game’s official website for the global version of the game. A notice on the website reads:
Message to all fans of DRAGON QUEST OF THE STARS and the Dragon Quest Series
Thank you very much for playing DRAGON QUEST OF THE STARS.
We regret to inform you that on 2021/6/30 23:59 UTC, the DRAGON QUEST OF THE STARS service will come to a close.
The large amount of valuable feedback and support provided by everyone who’s played the game has always been a source of encouragement for the development and administration team. Thanks to all for your amazing support.
Your DRAGON QUEST OF THE STARS Development and Administration Team
The global version of the game first launched on 25th February 2020. As Dragon Quest of the Stars will eventually shut down at the end of June 2021, the game would have only lasted over a year in the West.
Note that the Japanese version of the game, which released on 15th October 2015, will still be live.
While Dragon Quest of the Stars is ending soon, Western players can try out the rather recent Dragon Quest Tact instead. Furthermore, Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai: A Hero’s Bonds is also getting an English version in the future.
