With Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince releasing on 1st December 2023, Square Enix has revealed more information about the game, including its Synthesis mechanic, along with the story and characters.
Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince introduces a special way of synthesising rare monster type called “Four-monster synthesis” which requires a little long-term planning, with players to keep track of a monster’s grandparents.
Four-monster synthesis creates a new monster based not on the parents, but on the child monster’s grandparents; if the four grandparent monsters meet the requirements, they can combine to create a rare monster regardless of what the child’s parents are.
Story
The story of Dragons Quest Monsters The Dark Prince begins in the town of Rosehill, where monsters and dwarfs live in harmony.
Our main protagonist, Psaro, has been cursed by his father, the Master of Monsterkind, and is unable to harm any creature of monster blood.
Instead of ruling the monster realm with an iron fist, Psaro chooses to be a monster wrangle, befriending monsters and commanding them to fight in his stead.
While still in Rosehill, Monty, a father-figure to Psaro, will ask a series of question which will determine which of a selection of four monsters you’ll start your adventure with.
Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince releases on Nintendo Switch on 1st December 2023.
