We’ve just received an incredible treasure trove from BioWare: the Rook’s Coffer, the official Collector’s Edition for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. With a name like that, it’s no surprise we’re intrigued. So, let’s dive in and see what treasures BioWare has kept hidden for us in this impressive coffer.
The first thing that catches our eye is the box itself, with a sleek black and purple design that stands out. This isn’t just any ordinary packaging; the color combination, intricate character portraits, and prominent knight helmet emblem give the Rook’s Coffer a distinct Dragon Age: The Veilguard flair. Right away, the box’s premium build sets the tone for the treasures waiting inside.
Opening it up, we’re immediately drawn to the gleaming lyrium dagger at the center. This piece truly stands out with its regal and almost celestial flair. Its marble-patterned body and semi-transparent, turquoise blade give it a mystical quality that’s hard to ignore—a perfect fit for its role in Solas’s ritual. Seeing through the blade adds to the allure, inviting us to imagine wielding it in defense of Thedas.
If you notice something rolled up, you might guess it’s a poster—and you’d be right! This is the Companion Lithograph, depicting the faces of your most loyal allies in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. These are the characters who will stand by you through thick and thin. Plus, they’re the same ones immortalized on the box cover’s character portraits we mentioned earlier. With that, we wrap up the first layer of treasures.
Moving to the second layer, we find a leather quiver adorned with silver-stained motifs that give it a rugged, medieval charm, perfect for the Dragon Age aesthetic. Inside the quiver is a cloth map of Thedas, vibrant and richly detailed. Running our hands over the leather and cloth, we can feel the premium quality that captures the spirit of an intricately designed world.
Then, there’s a power cable, which got us curious. It turns out, it’s for the dagger! Yes, with the press of a button, the blade lights up, making it the perfect prop for defending Thedas (or maybe just your desk) when duty calls.
Next, a flask-like item catches our attention. BioWare describes it as a glass “potion” flask, arriving empty, inviting us to fill it with our favorite “consumable.” It adds an authentic fantasy vibe, though we wouldn’t suggest throwing it at any real-life enemies—it’s delicate enough that it deserves careful handling.
Nearing the end, we discover the Rook’s Card Deck, containing beautifully illustrated depictions of characters and locations from Rook’s journey. The cards feel standard to the touch, though we can’t help but wish they doubled as a functional mini-game. Who knows? Perhaps BioWare will consider this in the future but nevertheless, they do add plenty of charm.
Lastly, we come across a sizable D12 die that comes in a dedicated pouch of its own. It’s bigger than expected, far larger than your typical tabletop die. While we’re not sure it has any specific function, it could be fun to roll it and let fate decide your real-life quests.
