Dota 2 players Gabbi and Hishiko are causing quite a stir after footage of the two trading verbal blows online made its rounds on social media.
In videos and screenshots posted by netizens, Hishiko can be seen verbally berating her opponents, engaging in the same toxic behavior that builds up a terrible stereotype for Dota 2 players.
Rather than be the bigger man, Gabbi instead returns the favor, with him and his teammates engaging in some ever-classy jabs about her rank being related to sexual favors.
Both sides took to their own personal social media channels to discuss the issue, not backing down. Fans have embraced this as a team sport, filling the comments on their posts with even more vitriol and sexism, even going so far as to accuse Hishiko of hiding behind “sexism” as a blanket shield against criticism.
1/2 In one of my ranked games yesterday, I displayed wrong behavior towards one player in the opposing team. I made sexist remarks, which I now understand are totally not acceptable. Regardless of the situation, no one should display toxic behavior inside and outside the game.

Gabbi has since apologized for the incident, calling it “Wrong behavior”. He also had the following to say as caution for other eSports players:
“Moreover, professional players should always set an example to their fans and followers. I sincerely apologize to Hishioka and to the rest of the Dota 2 community. I will use this experience to become a better person”.
Hishiko meanwhile has not apologized for her part in the fiasco, instead blaming it on the stress of being verbally abused at length.
