DNF Duel Fans are expressing their frustration over what’s been a fairly slow content rollout for the title, best exemplified by the Spectre DLC who’s three trailers in with no release date in sight.
Last night, IGN premiered a new trailer for DNF Duel, once again showing off the upcoming Spectre character, marking the second gameplay trailer featuring the character.
However, unlike most DLC trailers that come with a release date, the Spectre’s is nowhere in sight- more than a year since the launch of DNF Duel.
“And still no release date?? Smh. Whatever is left of DNF community, hope this looks cool to y’all”, writes 618Smokey on YouTube.
Some even took to criticizing the trailer itself, arguing that it doesn’t even do a good job of showing off the character, with various dropped combos and ‘sub-optimal play’.
“Did she do a double backdash while cornered?! You can tell they didn’t even try, this is literally CPU vs CPU clips LMAO”, writes Najendasabigbossu4423.
Over on Steam, the game is currently sitting at Mostly Negative reviews, demoted from Mixed in the past month.
“The post launch support of this game is the most baffling I’ve ever seer in a modern fighting game, 8 months since they announced the first DLC character and there’s STILL no release date even despite of showing us how the character’s animations had been seemingly finished months ago”, writes one Steam user, Cyan. “This game just has increasingly less potential of turning around and any enjoyment you could get out of it has been made harder since the devs mistreated it this bad”.
We’ve reached out to Arc System Works for comment, and will update when they reply.
In the game’s defense, it’s not like there’s been zero development since the game’s launch last year- A major balance patch was issued, reworking several underperforming characters as well as heralding a bigger system change.
The system changes are supposed to launch in Summer 2023 alongside the Spectre character, though there’s been no updates on a potential release date.
