The chairman of Nexon, Kim Jung-ju was looking to sell off his 98% majority share of the company and is then reportedly approached Disney for a deal. However, Disney has recently denied interest in acquiring the gaming giant. Nexon‘s stock drops 8.3% following the news of Disney’s denial, the bid to acquire Kim’s stack is delayed to May as well (it was set in April).
For the uninitiated, Nexon is a South Korean publisher who brought us popular games such as MapleStory, Mabinogi and Dungeon Fighter. According to The Korea Herald, big companies including Tencent, Kakao and MBK Partners with Netmarble are shortlisted in the Nexon bid by March.
