V1 Interactive has released a report/preview on the single player campaign of its upcoming game, Disintegration! The nimble team at V1 with publishing partners at Private Division improvised to present their game’s campaign on Discord, after disruptions caused by COVID-19, demoing the game’s blistering action to an invited audience of international press. Gamers can certainly look forward to this game, as led by Marcus Lehto, V1 cofounder and co-creator of Halo during his long tenure at Bungie.
The single player campaign takes place roughly 150 years in the future where a series of climate disasters, food shortages, and widespread rioting has put mankind in danger of extinction. “Integration” is one of the ways humanity is trying to deal with the issue, essentially transplanting a human brain into a robotic host. Humanity in general has considered Integration as an in-between until they can get new organic bodies again, but evolutionary madmen want to eliminate existing humans – called “Naturals” – in service to their concept of Disintegration, i.e. the dominance of a new human/robot hybrid species.
Play as Romer Shoal, disgraced celebrity formerly renowned for his expert piloting of gravcycles (think of them as steroid-pumped, flying ATVs…with great big guns) an “integrated” man that may be the Naturals last hope to survive. With the agile gravcycle, you can work to flank a hulking enemy mech and slip all around for your escape. Disintegration features a full 3D space with no grounding limitation of gravity to maneuver for that heady sense of freedom, and you’ll have plenty of gravcyles to choose to pilot and upgrade.
Disintegration sets itself apart with its tactical element, where you can command up to four additional units fighting on the ground, against the Rayonne, your enemies. Will you be taking point, or provide support to your forces? The robust AI will help reduce the need for micro-managing, so focus on how you prefer to play and the challenges ahead!
You’ll have plenty of firepower in your units’ abilities, picking out the best crew you need before every mission. Take on missions across a wide variety of locales and bring the fight to the Rayonne. Between missions, unwind at the Player Hub to choose gear, upgrade skills or just interact with your team members before once more working to save humanity, backed by a fascinating storyline contemplating the nature and the future of humanity.
While we’re all gushing about the Disintegration single player campaign, don’t forget its multiplayer elements too. Find out yourself when the game ships later this year.
