Bandai Namco and developer Media.Vision have officially announced Digimon Story: Time Stranger, marking a significant return for the beloved JRPG series after a decade-long hiatus since Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth. The game is set to launch in 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
Time Stranger will feature a dual-world setting where players traverse between the human world and a newly reimagined Digital World, named Iliad. Unlike Cyber Sleuth’s focus on cyberspace, this iteration presents a living, breathing Digital World where Digimon run shops, maintain homes, and lead independent lives. The game promises unique quests and interactive environments within this reimagined digital realm.
The narrative centers on preventing the world’s collapse, with themes of bonds between humans and Digimon playing a central role. Players will explore how these connections transcend both time and parallel worlds as they work to alter fate itself.

Combat in Time Stranger will be a turn-based system, featuring extensive Digimon customization options through evolution, devolution, and specialized training. The game emphasizes building diverse teams to tackle various challenges, with players’ bonds with their Digimon directly influencing battle performance.
Fan-favorite Digimon such as Agumon and Omnimon will return in new roles, alongside fresh additions to the series’ roster. The game will blend traditional monster-collecting mechanics with modern JRPG elements, offering multiple party combinations and strategic depth for players to explore. Bandai Namco has indicated that more details about the game’s world, characters, and mechanics will be revealed as development progresses.
