Bandai Namco Entertainment has released a new promotional video for their upcoming mobile game Digimon: Source Code, showcasing the latest developments in this highly anticipated turn-based RPG.
The game, which experienced a brief hiatus after its initial December 2021 announcement, has made significant strides since its re-announcement in July 2023. Previously demonstrated at ChinaJoy 2023 with a playable demo, Digimon: Source Code promises to deliver an intricate combat system based on speed mechanics and strategic team composition.
The game features over 300 Digimon at launch and incorporates a unique battle system where each unit manages their energy pool for various actions, including basic attacks, evasions, and special moves. Players can even “overload” skills when lacking energy, though this comes with drawbacks to their Digimon.
A key highlight of the gameplay is the synergy system, allowing specific Digimon pairs to perform powerful team attacks and even fuse into stronger forms, such as Omnimon. The evolution system offers multiple paths for each Digimon, requiring players to collect materials and specific prerequisites for different evolutionary routes.
Currently, Digimon: Source Code remains exclusive to the Chinese market, with pre-registration available for both iOS and Android users in the region. The game features popular Digimon including WarGreymon, Metal Garurumon, and Metal Seadramon, among others.
