During 2021 China Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference (ChinaJoy 2021), lucky Digimon fans were able to try out Digimon: New Generation. Note that this is just a demo version of the game.
You can watch the trailer for the game here:
Also known as Digimon: New Century, the game is developed by Qixia Interactive Entertainment alongside Bandai Namco Shanghai and published by Tencent Games.
Currently a China-exclusive, the game will be open for closed beta testing in the country on August 5, 2021. UPDATE: The closed beta test is playable for Android users outside of China. Read this article to learn how.
In addition, you can check out footage of a player trying out the demo during ChinaJoy 2021, courtesy of 4gamer:
The game mostly follows the plot of the anime. However, it does have original characters for the game which do affect the story somewhat. As you may expect, the game lets players recruit and evolve many Digimon from the anime and games.
Digimon: New Generation currently has over 6 million pre-registrations, more than half of its intended 10 million pre-registration goal. Given its popularity, it is entirely possible for the game to release overseas since Tencent Games is publishing it.
