Toei Animation has released a special 25th anniversary promotional video titled “Digimon Adventure-BEYOND-” showcasing the original DigiDestined characters as adults. The new animation bridges a narrative gap leading to the conclusion of Digimon Adventure 02.
The newly drawn PV, announced via Toei Animation’s official social media channels, depicts a never-before-shown scene featuring grown-up versions of Taichi and his friends. This release comes as part of the ongoing 25th anniversary celebration of the Digimon anime franchise, which first premiered in Japan in 1999.

Directed by Hiroyuki Kakudo, who helmed the original first two seasons of the anime, this special music video was unveiled during DigimonCon 2025. The PV is chronologically set after the events of “Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning,” which itself followed “Digimon Adventure Last Evolution Kizuna.”
This latest addition to the Digimon universe continues the trend of aging up the original characters alongside their long-time audience. The franchise previously explored older versions of the DigiDestined in “Last Evolution Kizuna,” which was released for the 20th anniversary and hinted at the conclusion of Tai and Matt’s journey.
Digimon Adventure: Beyond represents what may be the final chapter for these beloved characters, as the franchise has now depicted them through various life stages. The special PV aligns with Digimon’s history of revisiting the original eight DigiDestined through sequels and movie projects over the decades since its international expansion. Fans can view the special anniversary PV on YouTube, where it showcases this potentially final adventure of the now fully-grown DigiDestined team.
