Blizzard has announced that the upcoming Diablo IV has opened for Beta sign ups, with a pre registration site set up for prospective players.
No details have been given on when exactly the Diablo IV beta would even be- but considering the scarce information surrounding Diablo IV it’s a good sign that the game’s release date is drawing ever nearer.
This announcement also comes with confirmation that Diablo IV would be a next-gen title- the website only mentions a launch on PS5, as well as Xbox Series X|S and PC, with no mention of past-gen consoles or even a Nintendo Switch version, unlike Diablo III or II.
That being said, there’s no word on whether the beta would also be available on all announced platforms, or if it would be console exclusive.
The news follows a tumultuous week for Blizzard Entertainment, who’s seen a lot of backlash over the release of Diablo Immortal following its aggressive monetization.
Despite the lack of promotional materials like trailers, Diablo IV has a surprising amount of communication behind it- Blizzard keeps fans in the loop with quarterly updates, introducing various gameplay features such as customization and the game’s skill trees.
The game features a return to the more classic gothic horror aspect of Diablo, and features 4 playable classes at launch: the Barbarian, Rogue, Sorcerer and Druid.
