Activision Blizzard has released a new Diablo IV video titled The World of Sanctuary where players get a fresh look at the Burning Hells.
This video marks the first in a series of developer insights videos highlighting the features and design inspirations of the world of Diablo IV. The development team talk about how players will jump into an all-immersive experience, and how they crafted the darkest yet most expansive version of Sanctuary in the Diablo series.
The World of Sanctuary
The art style featured in Diablo IV is shadowed and macabre, which is reminiscent of the grisly atmosphere set in Diablo II. The game has five unique zones, each having their own grim environments and themed dungeons. One of the artistic goals for the game is to make each scene look and feel like a painting. Thus, every colour and texture has been meticulously made to accomplish the grim design.
Monsters in Diablo IV have been worked into the darkest and most horrific versions of themselves. Players will need to fight their way through all sorts of creatures, both new and old. As well as interacting with other classic beasts that you might’ve encountered naturally in each zone.
Players can find themselves fighting hordes of enemies and protecting safe haven towns, fulfilling side quests and conquering dungeons in Sanctuary. Players are also able to walk seamlessly between the zones, exploring through what the open world has to offer.
Diablo IV is set to release for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and PC on 2nd June 2023. For more details on the Diablo IV video, do check out the official blog here.
