For those of you particularly attached to your saves, you may not need to worry about recreating your builds with Diablo II Resurrected.
In an interview with IGN Middle East, Producer Matthew Cederquist confirmed that your old Diablo II saves would still work in the upcoming Diablo II Resurrected.
“Yes! Keep your old save files,” said Cederquist, when asked about a save file importing feature. “Back when we were working on [the remaster], we wondered if the old save files would work, so we kind of shoved it in, and it worked! So yes, your local singleplayer save files will carry over.”
According to him, the team were experimenting if it was possible, and the end result was that you can now pick up exactly where you left off with your Diablo II character in the game.
In fact, for the added benefits of nostalgia, Cederquist also explains that Resurrected would have a toggle to go back into Classic mode, meaning you can even get that Diablo II aesthetic back if you don’t like the new 3D models.
Diablo II is a beloved entry in the franchise, being largely praised as the favorite entry in the series. Fans were excited to know that the game was being remade for modern hardware with Resurrected, and you can read on the specs needed to play it here.
