It looks like Microsoft might have accidentally announced a beta for Diablo II Resurrected, the remake for Diablo II.
Microsoft uploaded a listing for the Diablo II Resurrected beta on their store, though it included some details it probably shouldn’t have. Namely, that the beta was slated for the 17th of August.
The date has since been taken down, but not before redditors have managed to grab screenshots showing the new date.
Blizzard has yet to respond to the leaks either, neither confirming nor denying a potential beta. If it’s true however, it’s very likely we’ll hear about it closer to the 17th, as a likely surprise drop.
It makes sense that consoles should expect some sort of early access for the game soon, seeing as the game is slotted for release next month. Aside from acting as a preorder bonus, it also gives Blizzard a chance to stress test their servers, and make sure there isn’t a repeat of Diablo III’s launch which saw many users stuck in line trying to access their game.
Diablo II Resurrected is Blizzard’s major release this year, after the recent announcement that mobile spinoff Diablo Immortal would be delayed to next year, to better address community concerns regarding the game’s endgame content.
