Devil May Cry: Pinnacle of Combat is undergoing its closed beta test, and some people have generously uploaded their gameplay experience! You see, the game is currently limited to China residents, requiring a China phone number. One would hope for a global release announcement at some point to avoid this issue. Regardless, let’s check out how the beta gameplay looks!
Via John Fleer’s gameplay, players look like they will start off in a “hub” area of sorts, a bar reminiscent of the Bullseye Bar from the third DMC game. Here, it’s named the Hudson Cocktail Lounge, looking quite fancy with a stage and couches with NPCs you appear to be able to talk to. There’s a virtual joystick to move Dante around the area.
Global chat appears to be a thing, along with customizing options. Attacks are executed with button taps, with icons presumably changing to match currently equipped weapons. There’s also a dash and jump button. It would seem that the camera moves to the locked-on target. It’s curious to see English subtitles as the battle starts, which one would hope indicates a global release wouldn’t take too long.
As you might expect, there are missions to clear for additional rewards. There are story cutscenes from mission to mission. The gameplay looks quite smooth for a mobile title, all things considered. Well, what do you think so far of the beta gameplay for Devil May Cry: Pinnacle of Combat?
