Devil May Cry: Pinnacle of Combat, the China-exclusive Devil May Cry mobile game, is now open for pre-registration. According to a tweet by industry analyst Danial Ahmad, the game is gunning for a June 11th release date.
To celebrate the opening of pre-registrations, the game’s developers have put out a new trailer for the game, showing off some of the features fans can expect. Like the games they’re based off, Pinnacle of Combat is a full-on action game, featuring different buttons to use Dante’s various weapons.
The Devil May Cry mobile game takes inspiration from multiple Devil May Cry entries, with a HUD in the stylings of DMC V, a Dante with a toolkit based off of DMC 3 and enemies based off of the original Devil May Cry.
From the trailer, we get an enemy that bears striking resemblance to Phantom and Gryphon, two of the iconic bosses from that game. The fights are more straight up arena fights though, unlike in Devil May Cry where Phantom was a long corridor sequence.
The trailer also mentions that combat in this game will still feature some technical skill, as jump cancelling is in the game. In the previous Devil May Cry games, this skill is a good way to build one’s Style meter, as you “cancel” the recovery animations of your attacks by jumping on enemies, trapping them in the air for big Style points.
We’re also treated to one of the game’s new characters, a mysterious stranger in a cowboy hat and a sword named Frank. We don’t know much about him, but judging by his style and weapon, he’s meant to be a recurring boss similar to Nelo Angelo from the first game, with a moveset similar to Dante’s.
