According to Hobby Watch, Japanese toy manufacturer, Takaka Tomy has announced a Demon Slayer Feltymichine sewing machine and Ohajiki Seal sticker maker for children. Both items will be available in Japan on October 2, 2021.
Well, I suppose someone on the team’s got to make those fine haoris everyone’s wearing.
The Demon Slayer Feltymichine is an easy-to-use sewing machine for children. It allows kids to safely sew small poaches, charms, and other items without the risk of hurting themselves on a needle or needing to use string. It runs on AA batteries and is priced at ¥6,578 ($59.92/ MYR252.66). Separate items and character stands will be released for the machine.
The Ohajiki Seal is a sticker creation machine that uses a pressed clear cover to create sticker sheets. The machine will come with a set of sticker sheets and a set of cover parts. You’ll be able to use it to create 48 stickers based on the various characters from the series. The stickers will include three different shapes: circles, stars, and hearts and the set will include 16 stickers for each shape. This item will be priced at ¥3850 ($25.57/MYR147.922).
Now, a sewing and sticker machine aimed at children may seem like a strange item considering the anime features characters getting gored and maimed in many painful ways. I suppose since Demon Slayer is such a big property in Japan they’re willing to be a little lenient and get the young ones involved through something cuter and safe.
I guess it’s not too different from how America used to market Alien and Robocop toys to kids despite both being violent R-Rated movies.
Both items will be available on October 2nd. Demon Slayer has been part of multiple merchandise and collaborations since the anime came out. These include a new fighting game and a collab with multiple Japanese sports leagues.
