Bandai Namco and developer Grounding, Inc. have unveiled DEATH NOTE Killer Within, a new online social deduction game set in the Death Note universe. The game will launch on November 5 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam, with PlayStation Plus subscribers gaining immediate access through the Monthly Games catalog until December 2.
DEATH NOTE Killer Within pits up to 10 players against each other in a strategic battle of wits. The game divides players into two opposing teams: Kira’s followers and L’s investigators. The core gameplay revolves around concealing identities while attempting to achieve team-specific objectives – either eliminating L to protect Kira’s influence or securing the hidden Death Note.
The game emphasizes tactical gameplay through diverse character roles, each offering unique abilities that contribute to team strategy. Players can expect randomized scenarios that create varied and intense matches as teams vie for control.
The developers have implemented cross-play functionality to ensure a robust player base across all platforms. Players can personalize their experience with seven types of unlockable cosmetic items, custom nameplates, and special animations that trigger during key gameplay moments.
It’s worth noting that DEATH NOTE Killer Within is exclusively an online multiplayer experience, requiring an internet connection and recommended voice chat for optimal play. In addition, the game will not support offline gameplay modes. Moreover, Bandai Namco has indicated that the service and content may be subject to future changes or termination without prior notice.
