Deep Silver have re-announced Dead Island 2, the long-awaited sequel to the popular zombie survival game alongside its release date.
The trailer announces that Dead Island 2 will release on February 3rd, 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X and Xboxe One, as well as PC via the Epic Games Store.
Just like the initial trailer for Dead Island, Dead Island 2 sports a very characterful trailer, showing one of the 6 soon-to-be-announced Zombie Slayers fighting through Los Angeles after a massive zombie outbreak.
The developers also showed off some gameplay for the title, which seems about as straightforward as you can get- the game primarily focuses on melee combat as you slash and beat your way through hordes of zombies.
As an RPG though, your character will also meet other survivors- and like it or not, playing nice is going to be paramount in getting through the zombie apocalypse alive.
Even with the gameplay preview they didn’t show too much about the game’s actual systems and mechanics though, so RPG fans hoping to know just how much the title inherits from its predecessor will have to wait for more information closer to the game’s release.
Dead Island 2 has been in production for a very long time- the game was announced as far back as 2014, almost two console generations ago.
Fans had begun to hope for more information on the game, following some retailer leaks about the title coming soon prior to its re-reveal at Gamescom 2022.
