Accessory makers Dbrand has filed a lawsuit against Casetify for allegedly stealing case and skin designs.
The allegedly stolen case and skins designs in questions were for based on the “Teardown” series, a line of designs which has prints that match the internals of various phones, which is a collaborative effort with Youtuber JerryRigEverything.
The aforementioned Youtuber had recently released a video calling Casetify out, where he presented a few examples of the company stealing their designs.
One of the most prominent evidence that JerryRigEverything had pointed out where Casetify’s products had also included a number of inside jokes and Easters eggs for fans of the collaborators; an example being “glass is glass and glass breaks”, which is a line that the Youtuber commonly says in his videos.
Additionally, Dbrand had also brought up several other evidences over on their official Twitter account, solidifying their claims.
Casetify stole our products. Now we’re suing them.
Here’s how we found out… (1/6)

In a statement provided to The Verge, Dbrand CEO Adam Ijaz said “If CASETiFY had simply created their own Teardown-esque design from scratch, we wouldn’t have anything to take issue with. We are under no illusion that dbrand owns the idea of taking apart phones and scanning them. The fact of the matter is that they repurposed our existing designs for their products, then went to great lengths to conceal their illegitimate appropriation of our work.”
As of time of writing, Casetify had not officially commented on this matter but they had pulled its Inside Out line from their website.
Casetify is known for producing accessories based on various IPs such as Evangelion, Spider-Man, and more.
