Publisher THQ Nordic has announced that Darksiders: Genesis will be playable on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and Stadia. This spinoff title is in development by Airship Syndicate and is an action RPG that’s similar to Diablo.
The first Darksiders game launched back in 2010 and was an action hack and slash RPG. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, humans have been wiped out and supernatural forces fight for dominion over the world. Taking the stage are the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: War, Death, Fury, and Strife.
Strife makes his first appearance in the series with Darksiders: Genesis. The main character for the first Darksiders game, War, will also be featured in this game.
Story overview:
From the dawn of creation, the council has maintained the Balance across existence. Carrying out their orders are the Horsemen, Nephilim (powerful beings spawned from the unnatural union of angels and demons) who have pledged themselves to the Council and been granted immense power.
However, this power came at a tragic cost: the Horsemen were ordered to use their newfound strength to wipe out the rest of their kind. What followed was a bloody battle on Eden where the Horsemen, obeying the will of the Council, annihilated the Nephilim.
The game’s release date seemed to have been leaked by Amazon, with the date set for 31 December 2019. While THQ Nordic has not confirmed if this date is true, the official website mentions that pre-order details will be announced at Gamescom 2019. The publisher also be at E3 2019 so stay tuned for updates then!
In the meantime, you can visit the Darksiders website to find out more about the series.
