Not much has been announced about how the game works- instead Steamforged have merely posted a teaser for the Dark Souls TTRPG to their social media, though you can see some of the dice used in the game.
The game will be based around Dark Souls 3, judging by the teaser tweet directly referencing Unkindled, the player characters in Dark Souls 3.
Steamforged have a decently good reputation for producing tabletop games based on popular videogame IPs. Their previous productions include a Devil May Cry, as well as the currently in-production Monster Hunter boardgame and even the previous Dark Souls board game.
Interestingly enough, the Dark Souls board game did actually have a DM mode, where you could play the game more like a table top RPG akin to Dungeons & Dragons. That being said, this new game will likely lean more into that aspect, having more to do than simply cleaving your way through hordes of hollows.
In the teaser you can see multiple types of dice used for the game- while it’s hard to tell which types specifically are being used, it looks like it’ll be using at the very least, a d10 and d6 for various rolls.
