At the Final Fantasy VII 25th Anniversary Celebration, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion, a remaster of the original PSP game has been announced for modern consoles and PC.
Our reunion with Zack is fated to happen this Winter 2022.
Check out the new trailer below:
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII is a prequel to the original PS1 Final Fantasy VII. It centers around the character of Zack Fair who goes on the play an important part in the backstory of FFVII protagonist Cloud Strife.
Gameplay-wise, the game is an action RPG that makes use of a hack ‘n slash style combat system similar to Final Fantasy VII Remake or Kingdom Hearts.
Despite being a big hit at the time, Square Enix never made the game available on the digital PSN store (likely due to the fact that one of the main characters is based on the likeness of Japanese Musician Gackt). This means that the game has only been available on the physical PSP UMDs.
It’s great that the game will now be far more accessible to new players across a multitude of consoles.
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion will be available for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam this winter.
Other news announced at the 25th Anniversary Celebration Showcase includes a port of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade to Steam and the announcement of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
