Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled – First impressions

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled launched just yesterday and we managed to try out the game for a short session in the office. Check out our gameplay video below.

News of the game first broke in December last year when the reveal trailer popped up on YouTube. Since then, Crash Bandicoot fans have patiently waiting for the day they can ride on a new wave of nostalgia.

The first thing that really stood out to us was how good the graphics are. Everything looks so clean and modern, from the character models to the karts they ride on.
We also appreciate how smooth the game played. There were no visual stutters or lag whatsoever while we were playing local multiplayer. We’re not too sure about online multiplayer, but we have not encountered an issue when playing within our region so far.
The character roster for the game contains a good number of characters from the series. They’re also unlockable by playing the game naturally so you’ll eventually get all of them. Not all characters are equal, of course, since each character has different stats in Speed, Acceleration, and Turn.

In terms of customizability, you can change your kart’s wheels, paint job, chassis, or even add decals to it. Nice!

So what are our thoughts on Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled so far? It’s great! The graphics look good, controls are smooth, and there aren’t any major bugs we’ve noticed yet. If you enjoy whacky racing games, you’ll definitely enjoy this one.
