Counter: Side will be launching in Japan in Winter 2021, to be published through Nexon Japan. Accordingly, the official website, Twitter and Youtube channel have been established. The SEA release of Counter: Side – published through ZlongGames – utilized the original Korean voice actors, but the Japan release will be having Japanese voicework, including Jun Fukuyama, Nana Mizuki and Yoko Hikasa. Nana Mizuki will also be singing the game’s theme song.
The JR Akihabara station is also having a goods sample promotional event, where you can get masks, alcohol spray and tissue packs. 12 July is the last day, available from 12:00 to 19:30 JST while stocks last.
12 July also sees the start of promotional advertisements in several Tokyo locations. From 18 July, there will be commissioned art of various Counter: Side characters, presumably to be shared via the official accounts. Pre-registration has not been announced yet, so keep an eye out for that.
The basic premise of the game sees you commanding squads of “Counters”, fighting corrupted objects from the titular “Counter Side”. As is typically the case, there’s more to that than simply battling creatures, what with having a robot (?) CEO, mysterious behind the scenes machinations and the whole lot.
