The latest entry in the iconic run n’ gun series, Contra: Operation Galuga, is now available digitally on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
To commemorate the occasion, Konami Digital Entertainment also unveiled a new launch trailer of Contra: Operation Galuga that showcases the game’s fast-paced relentless action.
For the uninitiated, Contra: Operation Galuga is a reimagination of the classic NES and arcade cabinet Contra series from the 1980s, now redeploying players back to the Galuga Archipelago.
In Operation Galuga. players will take control of elite Contra commandos Bill Rizer and Lance Bean, as well as other warriors, to battle the Red Falcon terrorist group.
An assortment of iconic firearms will be available at the player’s disposal such as the Spread Shot, Laser Beam, and Homing Missiles, as players run, jump, and shoot their way through various biomes like the dense burning jungles, frigid mountains, grotesque alien lair, and many more.
Aside from weapons, each character will also have their own unique abilities and Overlord powers, and the game will launch with multiple game modes, including Story Mode (1-2 players), Arcade Mode (1-4 players), and Challenge Mode (1 player), with a variety of difficulty settings and perks to choose from.
Not only is the game modernized with effects-laden graphics, but it also features an ensemble voice cast that includes Steve Blum, Alejandro Saab, Angelita Esperanza, and Kira Buckland.
Furthermore, the game will not only feature the main soundtrack by Yuko Komiyama and Norihiko Hibino, but additional tracks will also be unlockable, such as the ‘Retro Remix” of classic Contra scores featuring artists such as Tee Lopes, RichaadEB, Alex Moukala, and Evanescence’s Tim McCord.
