Console players will have to wait for a while as the console port for Cities: Skylines 2 is facing an indefinite delay. Publisher Paradox Interactive has posted in the Cities: Skylines 2 forum informing that the game’s console will be postponed as they have not met the stability and performance targets that they have set.
Initially, the console version of Cities: Skylines 2 was going to be released in October 2024.
“While we are making slow but steady progress, there are still unresolved issues impacting the game in ways that harm the player experience we want to deliver. We expect to receive a new RC, which will undergo a thorough review in August. This evaluation will determine whether we can begin the submission process and provide a solid release date, or if further issues need to be addressed.”
Since launch, the game has faced many performance and stability issues yet it was one of the nominated games for Best Sim/Strategy Game in The Game Awards 2023.
Paradox Interactive then ended the post with:
“We understand this is disappointing, and it’s not what we had hoped for either. However, we are committed to keeping you informed throughout this development process, even if the updates aren’t always what we’d like. Thank you for your understanding and support.“
So far, Cities: Skylines 2 has hit every single mark for its year-one roadmap which is visible publicly via the game’s official website. However, without mod support in its latest entry, players still opt to play its predecessor: Cities: Skylines.
With the console port facing this indefinite delay for Cities: Skylines 2, you might want to get the first game as it is on sale for only USD 8.99 (MYR 30.90) on Steam. Cities: Skylines 2 also has a small discount at 10% off for the standard and ultimate edition, costing USD 44.99 (MYR 152.10) and USD 80.99 (MYR 277.20) respectively.
