A few days ago the Malaysian Anime Convention, Comic Fiesta 2022 officially announced that they had sold out of pre-order “Early Bird” tickets and would not be selling them on-site. Since then, there’s been a rush of people looking to buy tickets with scalpers hiking prices up to RM1000, over ten times more than the initial price of RM80 per ticket.
According to Wanuxi, this can be seen on websites like Carosell where tickets can be found for prices from RM600 to RM1,010.
If that’s not enough, some individuals looking for tickets have also said they’ve been scammed attempting to buy them from second-hand sellers. One such user, @batrisyia_1229 said she spent RM90 on three tickets only to be scammed. Apparently, the scam artist showed her pictures of real tickets over text messages to make the con more convincing.Β

The Comic Fiesta 2022 tickets being sold out are perhaps to be expected. This is the first Comic Fiesta in two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic and it’s likely many Malaysian anime fans are itching to attend another big convention. Paradigm Mall’s Anime Fest and AFA 2022 had similarly large crowds for the same reason.
Comic Fiesta 2022 will be held at the KL Convention Centre on the 17th and 18th of December 2022.
