Comic Fiesta returns to Kuala Lumpur in 2022 this weekend on December 17th and 18th. The event is bound to bring anime, figures, Hololive, and more to KL Convention Center.
Here’s a short list of everything that you need to know about the event, both in terms of the exciting events to see and the rules in place to keep everyone safe.
No offline tickets
Unfortunately, we have to start with the bad news about the convention, which is that tickets for it are officially sold out and the convention will not be selling on-site tickets. This is because the pre-purchase tickets have already reached maximum capacity.
If you’d still like to attend, there are many people selling second-hand tickets online but be careful. Many people are selling tickets for scalped prices and several people have reportedly been scammed.
No Replica Weapons
There are also a number of rules that con-goers must abide by during the convention to ensure a safe and fun experience for all attendees. These include not bringing any realistic prop weapons including guns, knives, and swords. If you do bring a prop to the convention, you’ll need to have it checked at the Prop Check Counter. For more on this process check out the Comic Fiesta 2022 Official Website.
The organizers have also announced that in order to ensure safety, random bag checks will be conducted throughout the con. If this happens to you, simply cooperate with the staff and everything should be fine.
The Events and Guests
Comic Fiesta has now announced the official schedule for both days of the convention. There is a limit on the number of people who can enter each event after which it will be closed to the public.
Suzuki Konomi
The first-star guest is the Japanese singer Suzuki Konomi. Debuting in 2012, she has contributed to anime productions like “No game No Life”, “Re: Zero”, and “So I’m a Spider, So What?”. She’ll be performing live on the first day (December 17th) at 19:00 and will be doing Meet and Greet sessions on the second day (December 18th) at 14:00.
Attendees who have purchased tickets for her concert can simply enter and enjoy. If you haven’t bought a ticket, you’ll have to purchase one at the Coffytiam booth on the G floor, exhibition hall 5 at 9:30 am on December 17th. You can only get one ticket per person and they’re first come, first serve until sold out. For more details, click this link.
Vtubers – MyHoloTV
A number of popular Vtubers have also been invited to Comic Fiesta 2022. These include two of Malaysia’s biggest streamers Virion Kisei and Liliana Vampaia from MyHoloTV.
Vtubers – Hololive
There will also be four Hololive vtubers attending the convention. These include Iofifteen Airani and Kanaeru Kobo from Hololive Indonesia, as well as Kiara Takanashi and Amelia Watson from Hololive English. Kiara and Amelia will be attending a Meet and Greet a 15:00 on the first day, while Iofifteen and Kanaeru will be part of a Meet and Greet at 14:00 on the second day.
Hikarin
What would an anime convention be without famous cosplayers? Hikarin will be attending Comic Fiesta as a special guest.
Anime/Manga Industry Panels
If you want to know more about what goes on behind the scenes in the manga or anime industry, you can also attend talks by Akihito Tsukushi, the original author of From the Abyss, or by Malaysian manga artist Senpai Boey, and Malaysian voice actors Azman Zulkiply, Su Ling Chan and “Uncle” Ali Imran, respectively.
Various booths
Officials have revealed that there will be more than 500 booths present at the event. Here is the full floor plan on their Facebook page.
Other things to keep in mind
Apart from your belongings, what should I bring to the event? If you’re looking to buy anything, remember to bring some cash. Some stalls may not have e-wallets or card readers, so it’s a good idea to bring cash in case you need it. There have been frequent rain showers in KL over the past few weeks, so it is advisable to take an umbrella with you. The venue is also bound to be crowded, so remember to protect your belongings.
The event will be held at KL Convention Centre, so if you want to take public transport, you can take the LRT to KLCC station, which is about a 15-minute walk away. If you have more of a budget, you can take a Grab or drive there yourself, or even find a nearby hotel for two nights. If you don’t have a ticket, you can still join the event outside the venue. There will be a number of cosplayers waiting for you to take photos with them, just remember to keep your hands to yourself.
Comic Fiesta 2022 will be held at KLCC from the 17th to the 18th of December. For everyone who’s attending, we hope you have a good time!
