The latest Call of Duty / COD game, Vanguard, announces its Champion Hill Alpha for the Playstation platform. The COD: Vanguard Alpha will run from 27 August, 10:00 PT to 29 August, 10:00 PT, featuring Sledgehammer Games’ innovative new mode, Champion Hill. It’s a Playstation-exclusive Alpha, giving you the chance to try out not just the multiplayer, but also Vanguard itself before the 5 November release. A Playstation Plus subscription is mostly not required, nor a preorder.
Champion Hill is a multi-arena survival tournament, featuring players in either Duos or Trios competing in a round-robin tournament against seven other squads. Each squad will have a set number of lives. Reduce the other squads’ life count to zero in a series of timed Combat Rounds to claim victory. Everyone will start with the same Loadout. Get cash by defeating enemies and picking up drops to upgrade your starting weapons or make other purchases during Buy Rounds that happen between Combat Rounds.
Five areas make up the entirety of the Champion Hill arena: a central Buy Station Area and four Combat arenas: Airstrip, Trainyard, Market, and Courtyard. Should you get eliminated early, you can spectate from the Buy Station Area spectator platform, or you can select an area to see your opponent’s view.
Preloading for the test starts 23 August, 03:00 PT.
