Tencent Holdings who is extremely successful in China with their MOBA hit – Honor of Kings is now in a tough spot as the government criticizes it for contributing to gaming addiction among the minors. The game is labelled as a ‘poison’ that spreads negative energy according to the state-run People’s Daily.
The game introduces a series of measures such as age limit and daily game time limit for the youngsters recently. However, these are easy to bypass by plenty of ways such as purchasing fake adult identity online. Therefore, the government continues to threaten on further action against Tencent to reduce the influence of gaming to the minors.
It is actually incredibly difficult to reduce gaming addiction among the minors due to lack of sufficient restrictions (eg: age ratings) over video games in China, but since Tencent is one of the biggest company now, they should take the lead. What do you think? Leave us your opinion below!
