If you are active in either or both Arknights or Genshin Impact fan circles, you may have heard of a fan artist for Arknights apparently getting doxxed after posting fan art of a leaked Genshin Impact character. If you’re unaware, “doxxing” is basically getting your personal information leaked and spread widely over the internet.
羽蛇Quetzalli appears to be the primary victim of this incident, who at time of writing, has apparently deleted all posts on bilibili. This reddit post suggests that 绫纱岚, Leria_V, 阿戈魔AGM, Colourful World, and 火鸡 have all fallen victim too.
Then we have this reddit post, intending to clear the air. Apparently, for 羽蛇Quetzalli at least, there was no sign of people harassing her publicly to start. However, both her and another content creator, 某声悠, later get doxxed by having spam messages sent to them as their phone numbers get used as website log in information. 羽蛇Quetzalli gets her paid FANBOX content posted publicly, though the poster cannot confirm if it happened before or after the doxxing.
At time of writing, the situation has been described as “chaotic” at best. With both Arknights and Genshin Impact fan artists getting caught in the crossfire, some have decided to lie low to avoid getting doxxed as unscrupulous people threaten to publicize their paid content, or worse, their personal information.
It’s easy enough to say to block the instigators before things can fully escalate. Telling people not to overtly “provoke the trolls” also only goes so far since there’s no way you can satisfy everyone. Making fan content and interacting with like-minded people shouldn’t have to end up like this, but in any case, take care, and be understanding if your favourite content creators choose to prioritize their comfort / safety and decide not to post more until further notice.
