Artifact is the Dota card game that was revealed last year during The International 2017. Valve finally announced and revealed some details of the card game early this month which lets us in on how the game would look like. As the game is based on Dota2, a card game out of the popular MOBA game seems pretty interesting and we got a footage from Gamespot, showcasing how the game is played out.
Check out the 7-minute Artifact gameplay by Gamespot:
As seen in the video above thanks to Gamespot, the game looks pretty similar with Blizzard’s Hearthstone. However just like Dota2, the game also has some MOBA elements in it. Unlike Hearthstone where you play your cards on a single board, Artifact has three lanes where you need to take care of.
Players will be able to use heroes from the Dota universe in the form of cards and deploy them strategically on either of the three lanes. Spells will consume “mana” which will increase later in the game. There will also be a “shopping phase” where players will be able to purchase cards at the end of each round. Just like Dota2, the aim is to destroy the towers.
The game is currently in its closed beta phase however it is only given access to the industry members and TCG professionals. Though they mentioned that the game will be available for Android and iOS in the 2019, from the looks of it, the game may come sooner if all goes well.
