With 2020 being an awful year, it is no surprise that many of us would like to relive the past. Soon, you can do exactly that with Capcom’s Retro Station!
Capcom also launched an official website for the mini arcade machine. According to the website, the design ideas of the product are as follows:
Spark from the MEGA MAN. The RETRO STATION comes from an elegant design which will recall you the old days and the best memory with MEGA MAN and STREET FIGHTER.
Made of ABS plastic, the console comes equipped with an 8 inch 4:3 LCD display. It is possible to connect it to a television or larger screen via HDMI cable. In addition, it also has two 10W super bass speakers and features a 3.5mm stereo jack. Further fueling the old-school nostalgia is the customised joystick and buttons. The machine is small, reaching a height of 234 mm. Lengthwise, it measures 270 mm from front to back and 238 mm from side to side, which is almost identical to the width of a Nintendo Switch.
True to its name, all of the Retro Station’s games were launched more than 20 years ago. This arcade machine features 10 games, 5 from the Mega Man franchise and 5 from the Street Fighter franchise.
The Street Fighter titles include:
- Street Fighter II
- Street Fighter II’: Champion Edition
- Super Street Fighter II
- Super Street Fighter II Turbo
- Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo.
The Mega Man titles are:
- Mega Man: The Power Battle
- Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters
- Mega Man Soccer
- Mega Man X
- Mega Man & Bass
Note that Mega Man & Bass is the Japanese console version of the game (Rockman & Forte) and not the English version.
The console also features support for two-player gaming. The Retro Station Fight Stick allows two players to play on a single console, while the Retro Station PVP Dongle enables two consoles to play together via wireless connection.
The product will be released in Japan sometime in March 2021. Currently, it costs 21,780 yen. Sales for regions outside of Japan will come soon.
