Cheap and functional: Acer AOpen 24CL1Y

The Acer AOpen line consists of three new monitors, where we’ve previously reviewed the sibling model in the Acer AOpen 27HC5RP. On the deck today is the Acer AOpen 24CL1Y, a smaller but still impressive offering, coming with a IPS Full HD display, 5ms response time with no blur, and BlueLightShield and Flickerless technology which will certainly appeal to gamers.

Great visuals wherever you need it

The Acer AOpen 24CL1Y is basically a wide-screen 24-inch, thin bezel, Full HD monitor. Testing it with films, serials and games, the monitor gave sharp images and more accurate colours wherever it was needed without tearing, and as you might expect, performs just fine with high definition games be it your PC or your console.

The colour gamut covered is the same as the Acer AOpen 27HC5RP at 72% NTSC, which is good enough to have vibrant colours for your viewing. It may be smaller, but the images are clear as ever, the 5ms response time benefiting every aspect you might use the monitor for. You can even adjust the viewing angle up to 178 degrees, while maintaining the quality of the image from whichever angle you may be looking at the monitor from.

Even long hours at the screen won’t be uncomfortable thanks to the BlueLightShield technology that reduces the strain on the eyes. With Flickerless technology, your screen won’t have those ugly lined effects so you’ll have your nice, stable image, without tiring your eyes too much. Offering 1920 x 1080 resolution and 60Hz refresh rate, it will be maintaining performance to whatever you need it to display. For further viewing angle adjustments, it comes with a VESA Mount for you to set up as needed.

For a comfortable viewing experience on a budget, then the Acer AOpen 24CL1Y won’t be breaking the bank for everyday use, priced at RM379.
