Catchmon is a brand new AR mobile game developed by Korean company Mgame. Since the lost of 12 million players in August for 2016’s sensational game Pokemon Go, Mgame developers are taking the challenge and advantage of AR games. The game is similar to Pokemon Go with its catching, raising and battling of creatures.
The game is just like Pokemon Go where players can use their phone’s cameras to overlay the virtual creatures on top of their current environment. All catchable monsters can be upgraded for gym battles or PvP. There are even boss monsters that spawn in specific regions where players will need to team up with others to challenge the bosses to gain rewards.
Despite the similarities of Catchmon and Pokemon Go since they are LBS (Location-based Services) games, the creatures in Catchmon are all entirely different than the Pokemon universe. Catchmon has a “board game” which does not require a player to go out of the comfort of their homes to play the game. Players can just click on a screenshot to move their characters in the game.
Below is the gameplay of a boss fight in the region:
The game is expected to be released by end of this year in South Korea first.
