For a generous serving of quick and easy casual games, look no further than a selection of Playrix‘s games, now available on the through the Huawei GameCenter app. Sometimes, you just want something a little more simple, but don’t be fooled. As “uncomplicated” as the actual mechanics are, the challenges put before you could take you by surprise.
TOWNSHIP
First on my list is Township! Welcome to the little titular township you are now in charge of that you can name whatever you like (within the character limit). You’ll need to slowly build up the little town, from your humble few plots of tilled land to expanding to the outer edges of the town. You’ll be seeing the town gradually become industrialized as you establish the facilities to process the raw materials, which can then be used to fulfill requests from people outside of town.
Much like Rome, your township doesn’t get built in a day as growing crops, processing materials and building all takes a certain amount of time. If you don’t have enough community buildings, it’s like not having enough people around to help you, since there’ll be no reason for them to be there when the population gets hard-capped and you won’t be able to build more things to progress. For a change of pace, there’ll be mini games to break your management loop in between.
Once you’re able to make your township flourish, there’s a whole lot of other buildings and features you’ll be able to access, from managing a zoo to participating in the various in-game events. While you’re waiting on things to process, you can move on to the other Playrix titles also available through Huawei GameCenter app, such as…
FISHDOM
For a departure from building, let’s go small scale with an aquarium instead with Fishdom. As you might expect from the name, it’s time to get some fish for the tank. A large array of aquatic denizens can populate the aquarium over time. They don’t just look pretty, as they have little chatter and can dynamically react to things you do. An example of this is them swimming over to a decoration you’ve bought and placed.
It doesn’t seem as necessary, but you would still like to keep your fish happy and continue beautifying their new home. It’s how you unlock more things for your aquarium too, so it’s in your best interests to do so either way. In order to get the coin you need, blitz through a series of mini-games, from light puzzlers to match-3 levels, the bite-sized games will push you along to make the best aquarium in town.
GARDENSCAPES
Let’s jump right over to beautifying an entire garden compound in Gardenscapes, away from the aquarium. You’ve inherited a gorgeous mansion, but the garden has unfortunately fallen into disrepair. With the help of your butler Austin, it’s time to set things right.
Your tablet on the bottom left will have your next tasks lined up for you, which will need ‘stars’ to complete. How do you get stars? It’s time for a series of mini-games! It’s once more familiar match-3 gameplay and puzzles. They sound easy enough, but when they start asking for specific tiles within a limited amount of moves, don’t be surprised if you unexpectedly fail a round.
It’ll be worth it though as it’s all in service to customize your gardens as you please, and all the other detailing too. Keep going to work on the rest of the compound, and meet many new friends as you progress the story.
HOMESCAPES
It would seem that Austin has completed his work at your mansion, as he’s decided to go back to his childhood home for Homescapes. He’s got many fond memories of the house, but it’s not all as well as it could be. His parents are ageing and the house is in absolute disrepair. Worst of all, they want to sell off the house as they don’t think they can take care of it in their old age! This simply won’t do, of course.
Similarly to Gardenscapes, you’ll be mostly playing through a series of match-3 puzzles to earn stars towards progressing your to-do list. There’s some more story to be had as you watch the family walk around the dilapidated house, talking to each other about the state of the place and other things. You’ll get to customize how the home looks too. All in the name of doing a good turn to your loyal butler to preserve the memories of his childhood.
MANOR MATTERS
Last but not least, we have Manor Matters. It’s a familiar set-up wherein you’ve inherited a mansion from a prolific adventurer. While the man has gone missing, he promises you secrets you can find in this pretty ramshackle mansion. Before you get to uncovering what’s hidden in this place, better to clear the dust out first.
While there are elements of puzzle gameplay, Manor Matters throws in hidden object gameplay too. It’s simple enough to find the items just by zooming in as needed, but you’ve got a pretty strict timer sometimes, and the layout isn’t always the same. It’s not just needing to find the items by name either. Sometimes you’ll be made to identify and find them by silhouette alone. Here’s where power-ups can come in handy, if you have them…
Once you do successfully clear the puzzles, you’ll also be able to decorate the place to your heart’s content. Don’t be shy… it’s your place after all!
So there you have it – five bite-sized games to feed into each other and keep you occupied. If you’re good at them, you can effectively keep on going. They may look designed for quick sessions, but you’ll be able to sit down for longer to blitz through even more of the content.
Township, Fishdom, Gardenscapes, Homescapes and Manor Matters are available through the Huawei GameCenter app. Find other like-minded gamers, more high-quality content and associated rewards through Huawei GameCenter.
