Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4‘s battle royale mode, Blackout, will be available to everyone for free once the new Alcatraz map drops for PS4 today. It was also confirmed by the official Call of Duty Twitter account so we can safely assume that it’s not an April Fool’s joke.
This is no joke, storm Alcatraz on PS4 and drop into Blackout for free on all systems tomorrow. Alcatraz is coming to all systems at a later date.

From April 2nd to 30th, other battle royale fans will finally get a taste of how it’s like in Blackout. Almost an entire month, for free! Yes, even if you have not purchased Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 prior to this, you can still get to try out Blackout within the limited-time period but other game modes such as multiplayer will be unavailable.

As for the new Blackout map, Alcatraz, it will arrive on PS4 first today before it comes to PC and XBox One at a later date. It is the second Blackout map to be added to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Unlike the original Blackout map, Alcatraz is a much smaller map that offers a fresh new challenge for both veterans and incoming new players as intense close-quarter combat awaits.
