Bungie has confirmed that its upcoming team-based extraction shooter Marathon will be a premium title, though the specific price point remains unannounced. The developer plans to reveal pricing details this summer, according to official communications.
The pricing clarification came after some confusion when the Marathon X social media account responded to reports calling it a full-priced title, stating: “Marathon will be a premium title. Marathon will not be a ‘full-priced’ title.” This suggests the game may land at a price point below the standard $70 cost of many current-generation titles.

Industry reports from last year indicated that Bungie and Sony were considering a $40 price tag for Marathon, which would position it similarly to Sony’s successful Helldivers 2 and the short-lived Concord.
Marathon represents a new IP from the creators of both Halo and Destiny. The game is described as featuring mercenaries who have exchanged their human forms for biosynthetic shells with unique abilities and stats. Players will form three-person crews to compete against up to 18 other players in each zone while scavenging the lost colony of Tau Ceti IV.
Bungie recently showcased the first gameplay footage and announced plans for a closed alpha test. The game is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC. Notably, Bungie has confirmed that players on non-PlayStation platforms will not need to create PlayStation Network accounts to play.
In a leadership change announced this March, former Valorant game director Joe Ziegler has taken over as Marathon’s game director, replacing Christopher Barrett who reportedly left the company.
