As a show of appreciation for all the support, Gearbox and 2K have shared a Borderlands 3 Community Love Letter! It contains details that includes a new seasonal event, level cap increase, and various quality-of-life enhancements coming soon to the game! The letter was also discussed on The Borderlands Show, with insider insights from Borderlands 3 Live Lead, Graeme Timmins.
Broken Hearts Day is a new seasonal event free for all players! Particularly lovesick enemies will be scattered across the Borderlands, marked with special hearts floating around them. These hearts have a variety of forms. Shoot them for unique effects that include buffing your party’s damage output, temporarily converting an enemy to an ally, or just exploding into a pile of loot. Break more hearts to unlock more rewards with five total: special skins and Legendary weapons unique to this event are available!
You can toggle the event off and on in the game’s main menu so you can opt out or get back into the event anytime. Xbox One, Playstation 4, Stadia and PC will get the event once the February patch goes live before 7:00 AM GMT +8, 14 February. Break all those hearts within the one week of the event before it ends 12:59 AM GMT+8, 21 February.
Borderlands 3 will be getting its first level cap increase to coincide with the debut of Broken Hearts Day. Vault Hunter Levels will increase from 50 to 53, meaning 3 additional skillpoints. More information regarding future level cap increases will be shared in the future, with the intention of making them free additions to the game.
Other Borderlands 3 Community Love Letter announcements include details on the following enhancements:
- True Vault Hunter Mode;
- Skippable Cutscenes;
- Guardian Rank Toggling;
- Event Toggling;
- Fight for Your Life Improvements;
- Mayhem 2.0;
- Twitch ECHOcast Extension Additions.
The full details on the free updates planned over the next few months can be seen here. The second paid campaign expansion information will be previewed on the Gearbox Panel at PAX East, 28 February 3:30 AM GMT +8. Future content roadmap will also be revealed, both of which you can see on the Borderlands Twitch channel.
