If you asked what is the Borderlands series famous for, the series is pretty much known as the original looter shooter of the gaming genre. With Borderlands 3 is coming up on September 13th 2019, the game is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated game in 2019. With that said, we got invited to a media preview event for Borderlands 3. In the Borderlands 3 media preview that was held in Singapore, we get to interview to the creative director of Borderlands 3, Paul Sage.
Like Borderlands 2 DLC and Borderlands Pre-Sequal DLC, we are expected that there will be new vault hunter(s) joining in the raid of the vault, right? Well, in Borderlands 3, Paul Sage stated that there will be no new vault hunter(s) coming into the DLC. The reason that there will be no new vault hunters is because when Gearbox observe the players of Borderlands 2, they tend to stick with the first character that they played as. Sure that the players tried out the other vault hunters once they done finish playing through their first character but after that, the players tends to come back to their first character. Even I shamingly admit I did that too. To make up for this, the developers of Borderlands 3 will make the current vault hunters have a lot of passive and active skills. Giving a lot of options for the players to choose from to suit their play style.
We asked Paul Sage on whether there is any plans to have Borderlands 3 into the Nintendo Switch platform. Paul Sage chuckled on the question and clarify that they don’t have any plan on having the game into Nintendo Switch. But he said he would love to have Borderlands 3 into the Nintendo Switch platform. If the game do get to be in Nintendo Switch, surely more players gets to enjoy the Borderlands franchise.
You can also expected there will be new game plus feature which is the True Vault Hunter mode just like in the Borderlands 2. After you have done with the game, you will be given a chance to play the game again with higher difficulty but this time you get to keep the weapons and the skills points that you earn. The only different of the True Vault Hunter mode from the previous True Vault Hunter mode is the enemies inside the game will always in the same level as you. No matter how much story you have progressed and you come back in the older part of the map, the enemies will still have the same level as yours.
It has been years since the Borderlands 2 was out because of that a lot of games of looter shooter gaming genre arise. With that in mind, Borderlands 3 will have a lot of competitions from other looter shooter games. But what the other looter shooter games don’t have that Borderlands 3 have is humour. The developers of Borderlands 3 wanted to convey the story of the game in humorous way so that the players can actually feel relax playing the game instead of feeling uptight all the time.
With the title of the original looter shooter game, what is a looter shooter game without the loots? Paul claimed that out of the other looter shooter games, Borderlands series has the world-class loot out of all of them. You can expect a lot of different type of gun drop from the enemy making you look forward to getting new weapon every time you counter an enemy. Besides that, every characters of Borderlands is so well thought of so that the NPC can become memorable for the players and not just a bot that just give out missions. And the missions? You will never know what to expect from the missions you have given.
To the non Borderlands fans, worry not, my friends. Throughout developing the game, the developers always thought of you guys so that you guys can also enjoy the game without needing to play the previous Borderlands game. When meeting the previous Borderlands characters of the franchise, the developers have made the characters reintroduce themselves properly so you can understand how important the character is. Other than that, the gameplay for the Borderlands 3 is expected to be 10 hours longer than Borderlands 2. Of course, the gameplay hours depends on the player itself so the gameplay hours may varies.
During the interview, we asked if there is a possibility of multiple endings for Borderlands 3. Paul Sage remains tight-lipped on the possibility of multiple endings in Borderlands 3. Follow up on that topic, there might actually be a secret ending that the player has to go through to earn it. Paul Sage said that he can’t spoil anything for us like a good gentleman he is. I guess we will have to play the game to find out if there is a secret ending to it.With so many awesome trailers that released by Gearbox teasing us onto hyping up the game, we can have great expectation from Borderlands 3. Whether you are creating mayhem or searching for the greatest loot, undoubtly you will have a great time in Borderlands 3. Be sure to get the game on September 13th on PC, XBOX One and PS4.
