A teaser illustration by key animator Keimon Oda was revealed alongside the announcement, depicting the socially anxious protagonist Hitori “Bocchi” Gotoh in a classic awkward moment. The illustration shows a startled Bocchi dressed in a dark hoodie and sunglasses, carrying her guitar case while being ambushed by reporters with microphones. True to her character, she appears shocked by the attention, inadvertently making a peace sign with her right hand as she’s caught in the spotlight against a concrete wall.
Season 2 of Bocchi the Rock! brings some changes to the production team, with Yuusuke Yamamoto stepping up from his assistant director role in the first season to take the helm as director. Animation studio CloverWorks will continue to produce the series, with Erika Yoshida handling the scripts, while Keimon Oda and Kerorira return for character designs. Beyond these details, no additional information about the plot or release window has been disclosed at this time.

For those unfamiliar with the series, Bocchi the Rock! follows Hitori Gotoh, an extremely introverted girl who learned to play guitar in hopes of joining a band and overcoming her social anxiety. After years of practicing alone and posting videos online as “Guitar Hero,” she’s recruited by drummer Nijika Ijichi to join Kessoku Band, setting her on a path of gradual but meaningful personal growth. The anime is based on the manga series created by Aki Hamazaki.
