Blue Exorcist MMORPG announced

Aniplex has announced a Blue Exorcist / Ao no Exorcist smartphone MMORPG, opening a teaser website. There’s nothing else to go on besides the IP and the type of game at time of writing, but you can at least smash that refresh button every now and again over here.

But wait, I hear you ask, as you click the meager tag for the series name: “What happened to Damned Chord?” Sorry everyone, after it slipped its 2019 release schedule citing “quality concerns” and postponing it, the game is officially cancelled. The MMORPG seems to be a more promising prospect, and we’d probably never know what really happened to Damned Chord. The website for Damned Chord remains up for the time being, with a redirect to the MMORPG project.

We can probably make a few assumptions about the Blue Exorcist MMORPG project:

• Likely to have a self-insert protagonist
• Original story
• It’s mobile based, so there’s gonna be gacha
• Maybe even a stealth sequel even though the manga hasn’t ended yet

In any case, you fans out there will have to wait on further announcements. 2020 will wrap up in just over a month and a half, and an MMORPG would be decently large scale, so further news might not come out this year. They do like to announce things on celebratory streams, so keep your eyes peeled.
