The Japanese version of Blue Archive will be shutting down support for using Twitter to log in to the service, urging fans to link their games to their Yostar accounts instead.
In a post on the website they confirmed that following an update at the end of this month, any accounts only bound by Twitter will be treated as guest accounts, with no ability to transfer progress to another device.
Instead, players hoping to save their collection of students can do so by linking their data to Yostar accounts as well as Apple accounts for iOS users.
The game will also provide a reward of 360 Blue Gems for linking your data to a Yostar account.
The social media for the global version of Blue Archive has not made any mention of similar procedures on their end, it should be noted.
Blue Archive isn’t the first gacha game to move away from Twitter login- following the capricious policy changes and threats to charge for APK usage at Twitter, Granblue Fantasy had also moved away from using the social media platform as a login tool.
Games with multi-title publishers also tend to have some sort of account system, with games like NIKKE and Honkai Star Rail all featuring accounts that you can also use for other games by the same publisher.
