Well, Overwatch 2 is confirmed! Why a sequel? Jeff Kaplan says the game is to “redefine what a sequel means”, and we’ll cover what that means in a bit. For now, check out the announcement cinematic trailer!
So, we’ll be getting PvE content in the sequel, among a whole list of things. Expect:
- Story missions
- Hero missions
- Replayable co-op
- Levelling up heroes (Talents)
- Customizable abilities
- New PvP mode: Push
- New maps, hero looks, heroes
So for those of you wondering about Kaplan’s words, and worried about your progress in Overwatch, fear not. Overwatch players will be able to play the heroes and maps in 2. It will be a shared multiplayer environment. Most importantly, your cosmetic unlocks will also be brought over from Overwatch to its sequel.
We also get a glimpse into the Null Sector machinations – no pun intended – but we’ll have to wait to find out. The Toronto map is available as a demo at BlizzCon 2019.
