Mobile game studio KLab has announced that they will be developing a “completely new hybrid casual” title based on BLEACH.
As announced on the official KLab website, the developers said they will develop a hybrid casual game based on the BLEACH anime series, targeting worldwide release except China.
KLab noted that the newest season of the anime, BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War, is gaining worldwide popularity.
“We are working hard to develop a new game that can be enjoyed more widely and easily by BLEACH fans around the world,” the announcement reads, as translated by DeepL. The title will be distributed in both Japanese and English language.
No further details and expected release window have been announced yet.
The announcement also revealed data regarding the genre that KLab is targeting, noting that it is a category of games that have been growing globally since around 2020, using statistics gathered by research firm Sensor Tower. It was noted that the market size in 2023 is projected to be $2.1 billion (approx. 310 billion yen).
For those who somehow do not know what BLEACH is, the manga series is by author Tite Kubo and is often referred to as one of the Big Three – a title given by fans for 3 of the most popular running manga series on Weekly Shōnen Jump in the mid-2000s periods, which includes BLEACH itself, Naruto and One Piece.
BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War is the latest anime season, and it serves as a direct sequel to the BLEACH anime series that ended in 2012. As the name implies, the anime series covers the “Thousand-Year Blood War” arc, the final story arc in the manga series.
