A remaster of Blaze Union: Story to Reach the Future is planned to launch in Japan in 2023. As announced by Sting, the title will be available on iOS, Android and Nintendo Switch. Rui Kousaki and Sunaho Tobe are the game’s credited illustrators, as character designer and card designer respectively.
The Blaze Union remaster is of a strategy game first launched on the PSP in 2010. It is a prequel to Yggdra Union: We’ll Never Fight Alone, itself also available on mobile. The game is part of the Union sub-series of the Department Heaven series, with the mainline games having been localized by Atlus while the sub-series remains Japan exclusive.
No further details were given regarding the remaster, simply that more information will come in time. Perhaps one might want to hold out hope of the series as a whole being more widely available for global audiences, if Soul Hackers could get a sequel 15 years after its original release. Granted, this may just be wishful thinking, but it’s always nice to see old games try to find a new audience after so long to hit on that nostalgia.
Until more information is released, all we have is Sting’s announcement, so stay tuned.
