The upcoming Marvel’s Black Panther game by publisher Electronic Arts (EA) will be an open world title, based on a recent new job listing.
This job listing by EA seeks to recruit principal sandbox designers and specifically mentions joining the team at Cliffhanger Games to work on Marvel’s Black Panther.
As a principal sandbox designer, the job description reads that successful applicants “will be instrumental in designing and populating encounters, systems, and gameplay within a dynamic and evolving open world.”
“Drawing upon a deep understanding of technical design principles and a passion for creating immersive sandbox experiences, this role demands close collaboration with design teams, AI engineering, and technical art departments to bring our game world to life.”
In Cliffhanger Games’ mission statement, they noted that they aim to craft an expansive and reactive world for Black Panther, which does fit into the idea of an open world title.
A Black Panther open world game where players can explore the nation of Wakanda and its surrounding nature is certainly an interesting one and many fans would undoubtedly be extremely excited to see it, especially with the high expectations as the title would be from Cliffhanger Games.
Formed in 2021, Cliffhanger Games is an EA studio led by Kevin Stephens, former studio head of Monolith Productions and one who has previously overseen development for the popular Middle-earth: Shadow series.
The aforementioned Middle-earth: Shadow series is best known for its open world environment with the Nemesis system, a mechanic that allows the enemies to remember their prior interactions with the player and behave accordingly in subsequent encounters.
